Verkaufe - Volkswagen 1972 Bay Window Project Campervan., GBP 7995

For sale I have my 1972 crossover bay window project. A genuine UK right hand drive bus. Originally stored in a barn for many years and extensively wax oiled for protection.

I bought this bus as a project and it has undergone extensive welding restoration. No expense has been spared on panels and everything that has been welded in has been done so using professional 3 phase spot welding. Only the best quality parts and workmanship have gone into this bus.

The bus has been completely media blasted which exposed all areas of work that was required to be undertaken. There are no hidden hidden surprises in doing so. The bus was then epoxy primed with coloured primer matching the original colour as seen. This bus upon completion of media blasting was described as one of the most solid UK buses that has been seen undergoing the same process. As a matter of fact no major work on the cargo floor area was required. An original rust free roof has also been fitted.

Restoration of this bus has been undertaken by award winning restoration company Classic Car Revivals who are renowned for their work. I have many detailed photographs of the welding process’ undertaken on this bus to show the superior quality of this work undertaken. Please do not confuse this with a bus that has been a garage project.

This bus was meant to be a keeper hence the amount of work and money I have put in to this bus, but with various other projects, unfortunately something has to go.

The bus has had;

Repair front chassis rail ends, A pillar bottoms and fit inner front valance. Repair front air box and replace inner windscreen panel. Fit headlight bowls into front panel. Prep and paint inside of front panel, door skins and front inner frame work. Fit front panel, Repair NS inner B pillar, NS outer B pillar, NSF top hat, NS inner silll, repair NSR window aperture.

The front panel alone was purchased from Schofields for £750, each panel used is of the highest quality the market has to offer. There is still welding work to be done including rear corners, offside seal and drivers seat belt mounting point.

Addional work I’ve had commissioned so far also includes adjusters to the original front beam welded in and blasting / powder coating of the suspension, fuel tank etc. I also sourced the correct original seats inclining a 3 seat bench seat and a rare middle 2 seater seat in the period correct white leatherette. The main ambition for this bus was to restore it back to factory original microbus finished in original Sierra Yellow. This is what is listed on the original spec sheet provided by Volkswagen.

The stock 1600 engine is included but no fitted along with the gearbox. The engine runs and runs well, videos of the engine running can be supplied. It doesn’t leak oil and has been extremely well maintained over the years with recorded maintenance back until 1977 buy the original owner.

I have a certificate from VW in confirm that the engine is the original supplied with the bus back in 1972.

All original glass is included and there are boxes of all the parts.

I have stacks of receipts of all the panels I have bought for this van adding up to over seven thousand pounds, it is impossible to list them all but if required I can provide over 50 images of the extensive work and invoices I have.

The vehicle is in storage and is on a rollover jig and can be viewed by appointment.
