21A Volkswagen Delivery Van. In original L31 Dove Blue paint. Patina and Sign writing.

    Just turning 65 years old.

Built Feb 1953 at Wolfsburg factory Germany and delivered to Denmark.
    Scandinav. Mot. Co., Copenhagen/Denmark

    Chassis no. 20-045010

Your chance to own a very original van and take part in the Barndoor Gathering this summer in Netherlands.

Original Huf ignition key and Volcano key. New genuine Huf key for cab.
Running a later 1600cc engine with alternator and SA gearbox. 12v new battery.
Lowered by T2D using the original front barndoor beam and early bus (55-61) dropped spindles and front drum brakes, with flipped track rods. NOS steering pin and bushes installed.

Dual circuit master cylinder and complete new brake lines throughout when re-commisioned in 2010. Brakes regularly serviced.

Rear drum brakes are Type 3 with adjustable spring plates from Type 2 Detectives.

15 inch steel wheels (beetle smoothies) all round with spare. Front tyres are Bridgestone Potenza and rears are DunlopSport.

This bus has been on the road in the UK since 2010 and we have covered many trouble free miles in it. Travelled Europe on a number of road trips and had some great times. Its now time to pass it on to someone else to enjoy.

100s of hours spent removing the layers of newer paint to reveal the original dove blue.

Uncovering some original sign writing from the mid 50s when the bus was owned and in service with the electrical company Sv Aa Nielsen, based in Slagelse, Denmark.
This was found on its 2nd paint and much of the sign writing was lost during the process of getting back to the original paint.
We managed to save the Sv Aa Nielsen on the rear decklid. It also had the town Slagelse and the phone no. on lower decklid but that was lost.
The light bulb and company name on the side panels of the bus is gone too.
The roof was not touched and still has the flakey layers of house paint on it. The rest of the bus from the gutter down displays its old original paint. No filler to be found on this van and all factory spot welds are visible. Very straight panelvan. You don't see many buses with this much og metal these days.

Inside is the original grey paint. There is a board headliner fitted and grey side panels in the rear with a homemade headbanger top locker cupboard unit. the headliner has 50s pin-up girls.

In 2010 the metal repairs carried out to the chassis and the floor etc was done sympathetically saving as much og metal as possible and also using og metal. There were some pieces grafted into the load area. The rear floor is mostly og and in good shape (not all battered and wavy like many others).
The front cab floor outers are klassic Fab and the front outer arches.

Its a very honest survivor bus. Very original body and chassis.

Way back in the past it has had lower 6" of sill done on long side and shortside.

Pics of the bus from the late 80s show it had deluxe trim fitted which is long gone.
It has deluxe trim on the rear lower corners. This was before VW buses had a rear bumper fitted at factory.

Original front bumper and original front badge.

HWE original 3/4 roof rack with big STOP light on rear.
    Randar number plate light holder.
Old DK country of origin stickers still present.
    Fresse big diamond rear reflectors
    Reproduction Hella rear light units.
Original SEKURIT glass all round. Front screen had new rubbers back in 2010.
    Rear view mirror.
Original front bench seat with an old used og commercial black cover fitted.
Original grab bar handle and foot rest.
Ribbed rubber floor mat with some rips.
Original cab divider with og SEKURIT glass.
Original cab door cards with pockets.

Original fuel tank, neck rubber, and spare wheel tray. Firetec fire suppression kit fitted in engine bay. 12V battery, NOS decklid support bracket installed and also decklid hinge seal.

See pics: Old pic from late 80s in Denmark. I think (marked Tonny Larsen)
Underside when put back on the road.

I have a brand new Dogback front beam from Germany which is complete with centre steering ready to install to improve handling. Along with a later steering box and column which is required when installing this.

Also brand new Wilwood brake discs kit and callipers from AirKewld in USA so it stops on a penny. These can be included for the asking price.
