A beetle in the quite rare colour that is Bordeaux (L51). It was delivered in January 1951 in Denmark and was only registered once: from 1951 until 1981. Then it sat in a barn for a while, until the previous owner bought it from the children of the original owner, and I bought it from him.
It is a matching chassis, body and gearbox car, original Huff key and with it’s original bill of sale (quite rare) which mentions the original price and the original engine number.

The previous owner restored the chassis:
    - Floor pans didn’t need any welding, just a black repaint
    - New heater channels and I believe the panel behind the fuel tank
    - Spare wheel bottom
    - All the fender mounts have been taken care off and are sprayed underneath to prevent rusting

Then I mechanically restored the beetle:
    - Whole new wiring loom (650 euro!)
    - Everything on the brakes has been renewed: master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines (the brass and rubber ones), new brake shoes and springs,…
    - New fuel tank, all new fuel lines and filters
    - New shocks up front and the correct revised lever shocks in the back (800 euro!)
    - The original engine has been lost for many years, so I put a revised 30hp engine in, I believe from 1954. A much more reliable and better running engine than the original 25hp. The engine is surrounded by all new and shining engine tin and purrs like a kitten!

On the outside it is far from a show car but it has a lovely patina/rally look. It has been repainted in the 70s in a darker tint but the original Bordeaux paint is still underneath and could be brought back easily. The inside was left untouched in its original Bordeaux paint. Outside, there’s lots of scratches and imperfections, and this gives the car character, and except for one front fender corner, nothing is rusting through.
The car sits on the correct 16 inch wheels with brand new tires on it.

The inside is where this car shines! Original everything and in such a great shape!
    - Original front and rear seats with no rips
    - Original headliner is in fantastic condition
    - Original door panels in great shape (small repair with the best material from Marcus/Beetlekey in Germany)
    - Original carpet set, but those look very used. They still look better than any repro set I’ve seen

So with everything mechanically restored, you can start driving immediately, bring back the old paint, or do an easy repaint.

The car is located near Antwerp, Belgium.
