The Porsche 911 appeared in the fall of 1963 with a 130 HP two-liter engine. Versions with more power did not take long. The first step in the evolution of the car was the 911S; an important but nowadays rare model. The 911 S (for Super) used the same two-liter boxer as the basic model, but with a number of adjustments. Other pistons raised the compression ratio to 9.8: 1. In addition, cylinder heads were used with larger inlet and outlet valves and Porsche fitted another outlet. But under the hood, the carburetors do stand out the most: real Webers. To be precise, a pair of triple 40 IDS gas plants, which took the place of the previously standard Solex carburetors.
