Bus Westfalia from 1973 with stripe
Magnificent example from Oregon in an exceptional state of preservation both in terms of bodywork and interior.
The care taken in its maintenance by its previous owners has preserved all its authenticity.
Judge for yourself: the floors seem new, whether front, middle or rear. The wheel arches show no corrosion. The Westfalia furniture is intact as it left the factory except for the upholstery which has been replaced and looks good.
The original front seats have advantageously given way to more modern and much more comfortable models, but preserving all the fixings on the chassis allowing a possible return to the origin.
This combi never required any soldering, not even the battery trays, which are so sensitive parts on these buses. Only a veil of paint in its original color many years ago gave it back the luster it deserves.
We took out its type 4 1700cc engine in order to redo its sealing, check the good condition of the clutch and also be sure of its good health and that of its 2 double Dell’orto 36mm carbs. Customization all around the bodywork makes this Combi Westfalia Stripe unique.
We also took the opportunity to replace the gearbox nose oil seal to guarantee peace of mind for the future owner.
Among the accessories rarely present are provided with this westy:
– the rear hatch mosquito net,
– the necessary original tools in their original pouch,
– forward cabin hammock
– removable vinyl front panel protection,
– very useful snow chains in winter “mountain law” obliges,
– a new “bus depot” brand awning delivered with its instructions and all the assembly material.
Finally, please note that the fiberglass pop-up roof is in perfect condition. The canvas is original and simply tarnished by 50 years of loyal service.
